The concept
Ten years ago, we came up with the plan to start Ticket2Surf. The idea was to start a different kind of surf house and to offer surf holidays and active holidays in a more authentic part of Portugal where the surf is consistent, less crowded and where the Portuguese traditions are still alive. Over the past eight years Ticket2Surf has grown from a surf camp to what you can now call a guesthouse or surf lodge with a unique concept;
We work with a personal training plan and video analysis to learn and improve your skills step by step. The activities don´t have fixed timetables because we will always try to go when the conditions are at its best. There is also enough time to relax and to discover the area. Ticket2Surf is perfectly suitable for families.
Praia da Tocha
The unique location is 50 meters from the beach, surrounded by forest and situated in the lovely traditional fishermen village of Praia da Tocha. This little beach town, situated between Porto and Lisbon, with their traditional wooden houses called “palheiros”, still hosts its traditional fishing method called “Arte Xávega”. You can buy your fresh fish straight from the fishermen at the beach, so be prepared for a classic BBQ night.
Don´t like fish? No worries, Praia da Tocha has a couple of very nice restaurants, from traditional Portuguese to Hamburgers, Italian or steak and several options for vegetarians. There are also a couple of nice bars where you can hang out, enjoy a drink, listen and dance to live music.
The Surf
The closest surf spot from our guest house, is our home break and is only 75 meters away. This beach break, for all surf levels, starts to work with less than 3 ft. (1 meter) swell, and is the place to be! If it´s flat here, it´s flat everywhere! The rest of the surf spots of the Beira Litoral coast are a variety of world class beaches, reefs and point breaks. The most well-known spots are around Aveiro and Figueira da Foz. But apart from these two towns the waves are almost totally deserted and kilometers of open beach are mixed up with a scattering of headlands and the occasional forgotten reef. This stretch of Portuguese coastline has been under the radar for years now, even though it hosted quite some WSL (World Surfing League) world tour events over the last two decades. With such a variety of good surf spots and just a small number of surfers, this area is Portugal’s hidden jewel. So please come and join us but don’t tell everybody about it!
What else do we have to offer?
Ticket2Surf offers accommodation, in dorm rooms or comfortable private rooms. Apart from accommodation there is a wide range of activities to choose from, such as: Surf lessons, surf guiding, standup paddle board, board rentals, wetsuit rentals and yoga. All the activities at our surf school are taught by certified instructors and surf coaches.
Ticket2Surf also gives you the opportunity to organize events, teambuilding, paintball, kayaking, hiking (visits to natural parks and local traditional towns), and much more...
